Alex

Alex Adams

Skills for Success fellow with big brothers big sisters of central iowa

Alex recently graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Psychology and a Genetics minor. During her time in Ames, IA, she worked in a Sleep and Personality Psychology lab as well as a vaccine research company doing summer research rotations. Passionate about the social sector and improving the lives of typically neglected populations, she decided to begin working towards a career in the nonprofit sector, and hopes to attend a Clinical Psychology program in the near future. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, rollerblading, trying new foods, and is currently in the early training stages of becoming an Aerialist.

Casie

Casie Keegan

Environmental fellow with Fiver Children's Foundation

Casie recently graduated from Cazenovia College with a degree in Human Services and minors in Biology, International Studies, and Aging Services. For the past five summers, she has had the opportunity to work with the youth through two non-profit organizations including Fiver Children’s Foundation and Girl Scouts. She is looking forward to another year working with the youth as an Environmental Awareness Fellow at Camp Fiver where she will be able to empower, motivate, and inspire the youth and share her knowledge of environmental sustainability.

Clarissa Mejia

Leadership Development FELLOW with YSS

Clarissa Mejia is a motivated first generation Latina student with the passion to help youth succeed. Clarissa is eager to strengthen her leadership skills and learn new effective ways to get involved with her community. She recently graduated from Des Moines Area Community College and will attend Grand View University in the Fall. Clarissa will be double majoring in Social Work and Psychology. Her biggest aspiration is to establish a non-profit organization to help first generation, low income students throughout their journey in college.

Elliott Copeland

health fellow with Fiver Children's Foundation

Elliott Kohane Copeland was born and raised in the Brooklyn-Queens area. He has worked with Fiver Children’s Foundation in varying capacities, from Camp Counselor to Athletics Camp Director. Elliott has a genuine love for people and for music. He attends QueensBorough College, where he studies visual and graphic art. He plays saxophone, tap dances and sings. Elliott aspires to be a great artist one day, and hopes to capture the eyes and hearts of people in a positive way.

Hazel Flores

Family engagement fellow with Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland

Hazel was born and raised in Southern California, but refuses to call anywhere other than Portland home. She graduated in 2016 from Reed College, where she majored in Psychology and minored in Literature. She has worked with organizations impacting children and adults in a variety of projects within homeless and domestic abuse shelters, alcohol and drug preventions, and most recently, volunteer teaching and global mental health work in Sri Lanka. Hazel looks forward to continuing her involvement in the social sector by working with FLIA and the Boys and Girls Club of Portland.
 

Joie Probst

Health FELLOW with Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa

Joie was born and raised in West Des Moines, Iowa. She attended the University of Iowa and graduated this past May with a degree in Journalism with a focus in International Studies and a minor in Spanish. She has worked with youth for many years, from teaching swimming lessons to volunteering at a primary school in Spain. She believes that children are a huge asset to every community and hopes put her skills and passion to work this upcoming summer. She looks forward to working with FLIA and Boys & Girls Club of Central Iowa to help make an impact in her community.
