Summer 2016 Impact Summary

Like time always does while having fun, keeping busy, or constantly learning and adapting - this summer flew by! It was a season packed with a reflective leadership retreat in Portland, OR, five busy fellowships across the country ranging in focus areas, and one new addition to our permanent staff!

As we gear up for our first-ever term of Fall Fellowships, we wanted to pause and take a moment to tip our scuffed, nonprofit hats to the collective fellow accomplishments from this summer.

Each of our partners nonprofits for the Summer 2016 Fellowships identified a common need: specialized support in evaluating, planning, and/or executing a priority program to offer enriching experiences for predominantly underserved youth.

Throughout my time at BGCP, I got to have in-depth conversations and survey Directors of Youth Programs and see firsthand how it all worked. I also got to observe programs running during the summertime and see how programs translate from paper to real-life!" - Leah Kenney

"My main goal was to get my foot in the professional door in my new city.

This was accomplished through both relationship building and exceeding the expectations for my work as much as possible.

I feel much more connected, directly and through others, to great future professional opportunities."

The two Summer Fellowship terms now under our organization's belt could not have been accomplished without the phenomenal, mission-driven partners and exceptional, inspiring, hardworking fellows by our side. So, thank you!

We are ecstatic to continue to reach in new directions with Fall 2016 Fellowships. We will be kicking off two new partnerships, with Fiver Children's Foundation in New York and Youth Standing Strong in Iowa, as well as continuing to partner with Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland.

When you contribute to our campaign, you help us to double the number of emerging leaders reached through professional development opportunities with a variety of youth nonprofit partners as well as increase the number of youth our fellows and their programs reach.
