Summary

Teilor worked with Fiver Children’s Foundation on their College Access and Transition Program, which aims to prepare participants for life after they graduate high school by assisting them with their application process and helping them develop life skills. Teilor worked on two different programs, Senior Institute and Graduate Institute. Senior Institue focuses on helping rising seniors begin thinking about what colelges they may want to attend and to help them complete their college applications. Graduate Institute provides recently graduated high school students with life skills that can be utilized while at university or while working.

Overview

  • Created curriculum and materials for Senior Institute that covered steps to complete college applications including the following:

    • Researching potential colleges to apply to

    • Completing a brag sheet that asks participants to list their experiences with extracurricular activities, community service, employment, athletics, awards and honors

    • Completing a rough draft of the personal statement

    • Starting the Common Application, the SUNY Application and/or the CUNY Application

    • Discussing financial aid

    • A panel that discusses different life pathways
