Describe FLIA in three words

"Empowerment. Growth. Collaboration."

Describe your career path. How did your fellowship with FLIA prepare you for this role?

"A good portion of my fellowship involved gathering resources, talking with folks in the community, and making sure the materials I was creating for my partner organization were informed by experience. I was inspired by youth empowerment and decided I wanted to continue FLIA’s mission in future work. After briefly working in state government, I came to work as a Prevention Specialist. About half of my time is spent in the community working with kids and meeting with different sectors of the community interested in long term, positive change. Having experience in gathering resources and building capacity, Future Leaders in Action fostered the confidence I need as I do outreach. In addition, FLIA sparked a connection to youth that is reflected in my time in schools, and I use materials I created for the fellowship with my students."

What’s something interesting about you that’s not in your resume?

“Something I love is listening to others talk about the things they love to do. I’m always quick to dismiss a “sorry, I must be boring you,” with a “not at all, tell me more.” It’s inspiring to learn and connect with someone over things that make them happy, whether it be designing felted animals or starting their own business.”
