Changing with the Times: Community-Based Mentoring

In 1971, not a single shelter specifically serving runaway youth existed in the state of Iowa. In 1972, that changed when YSS founder George Belitsos opened the first runaway shelter (which later became Rosedale shelter) in the basement of an Ames church. 

2016 Fall Fellowship Retreat

Fellows spent two and a half days last week in Portland, Oregon for the 2016 Fall Fellowship Retreat. Along the way, they practiced public speaking, goal-setting, and envisioning leadership. They spoke candidly about foreseeable challenges during their fellowships and connected with each other to brainstorm solutions and strategies. 

Summer 2016 Impact Summary

Like time always does while having fun, keeping busy, or constantly learning and adapting - this summer flew by! It was a season packed with a reflective leadership retreat in Portland, OR, five busy fellowships across the country ranging in focus areas, and one new addition to our permanent staff!
