Rachel developed, administered and analyzed a social-emotional learning (SEL) assessment for first and second grade members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland (BGCP). The goal of the assessment is to measure the impact BGCP has on the social-emotional development of its youngest members. This information can be used to shape future program development.

Overview

  • Implemented and analyzed a social emotional learning assessment for 6 - 8 year olds

  • Researched best practices for surveying the population and social-emotional indicators for the group

  • Identified both the method and content for the survey

  • Reviewed the resulting data

  • Made sure the survey is both valid and reliable so that it can be used into perpetuity

  • Administered assessment to 116 5-8 year olds

  • Reviewed the data to measure the organizations’ impact

Impact

116 youth were surveyed and assessment will impact approximately 450 youth each year
